Celebrating Dr Grahame Davies CVO DLitt
We are honoured to feature Dr Grahame Davies CVO in our latest Honorary Doctorate Spotlight from the University of Aberdeen.
In June 2023, Grahame was awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters (DLitt) by the University of Aberdeen, recognising a multifaceted career that spans journalism, literature, and Royal service at the highest level.
A Voice for Nation and Occasion Grahame is an award-winning poet, novelist, and literary critic whose work bridges languages and cultures. A former journalist for the BBC, his literary impact is profound, most notably as the lyricist for Sacred Fire, performed at the Coronation of King Charles III.
Service & Strategy Beyond his literary acclaim, Grahame served as Assistant Private Secretary and later Deputy Private Secretary to HM The King (then Prince of Wales), bringing a unique blend of cultural insight and strategic vision to the Royal Household. He now serves as Director of Mission and Strategy for the The Church in Wales | Yr Eglwys Yng Nghymru. A Distinguished "Dr" Already well-known as "Dr Davies" through his PhD and previous honorary doctorate from Anglia Ruskin University, this award from Aberdeen further cements his standing as one of the UK’s most significant public intellectuals.
