1. Who we are and how to reach us

societyofhonorarydoctors.org is the website of the Society of Honorary Doctors, a new initiative developed and operated by Space Network Ltd, a company registered in Scotland with company number SC656651, whose registered office is Clyde Offices, 48 West George Street, Suite 2/3, Glasgow G2 1BP.

2. What these terms do

They set out how the public website may be used. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

Separate terms cover the things the website leads to:

• Fellowship terms cover membership of the Society and use of the member platform
• Founding Fellow terms cover the first fifty Fellowships
• Community guidelines cover how members interact with one another
• The Honorand contributor terms cover articles submitted to the Society's e-zine
• University participation terms cover chapters and University staff accounts
• The privacy notice and cookie notice explain what we do with information about you

Where those terms and these ones cover the same ground, those terms apply to that activity.

3. Using the site

You may read the site, and share links to it, for your own purposes and for the ordinary purposes of your organisation.

You may not:

• copy substantial parts of the site to republish as your own
• use anything on the site in a way that suggests the Society endorses you, your employer or your product, unless we have agreed that in writing
• scrape, harvest or bulk download the site, or use automated tools to extract content from it
• attempt to gain access to any part of the platform you have not been admitted to
• introduce anything harmful to the site, or do anything that interferes with its operation for other people

If any of that happens, we may withdraw access.

4. What we own

The Society owns, or is licensed to use, the content of the site. That includes the name Society of Honorary Doctors, the post-nominal FSHD, the logo, the tagline "With distinction, comes purpose", the design of the site and the platform, and the text and images we publish.

University crests shown on the site and platform belong to the Universities concerned. They are shown to identify the institution. Their appearance does not imply that the institution endorses the Society. Any University that would prefer its crest not to appear should tell us and we will remove it.

The Honorand is the Society's e-zine, published openly on the site so that anyone can read it. Articles belong to their authors. The Honorand contributor terms set out what we are permitted to do with them, and readers are welcome to share links to them.

5. What the site is, and is not

The site describes the Society, what it does and how to join. It is information, not advice. Nothing on it is legal, financial, professional or investment advice, and you should not act on it as though it were.

We take care to keep the site accurate. We do not promise that every part of it is current or complete at every moment.

Figures about the Society, such as the number of Fellows or the number of institutions listed, describe the position when the page was written.

6. Links to other sites

Where we link to another organisation, we do so because we think it is useful. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for what is on them.

7. Availability

We aim to keep the site and the platform available. We do not promise they will be available without interruption. We may suspend, withdraw or change any part of them, and we will give notice where we reasonably can.

8. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit.

Subject to that, we are not responsible for:

• loss of profit, business, contracts, goodwill or anticipated savings
• loss or corruption of data
• any loss that was not a foreseeable consequence of our breaking these terms

If you use the site in the course of a business, these limits apply in full. If you use it as a consumer, you keep every right the law gives you as a consumer, and nothing here takes those away.

9. Changes to these terms

We will update these terms as the Society develops. The version and date are at the top. Using the site after a change means you accept the new version.

10. Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the courts of Scotland have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may bring proceedings in the courts where you live.

Write to info@societyofhonorarydoctors.org and tell us what has gone wrong. We will reply within five working days.
